Oliver Wellington bought the land, and that was the beginning of Wellington Village. In 1995 Palm Beach County approved Wellington to be incorporated, and since that year the village has become an international center for equestrian sports.

The demographics in Wellington in 2010 concluded that 80% of the population was white or Caucasian or Hispanic origin. In the year 2000, the median household income was a whopping $97,000. A great aspect of the area is that less than 5% of the population was below the poverty line in the year 2000.

Wellington has risen above all odds when one considers that the village was once just a strawberry patch located in the swampland.
